Robotic Competitions have been conducted in Singapore since 1989 as part of its National Automation Master Plan (1987) to promote robotics and automation among its youth population. In order to support and promote RoboCup and robotics education and research activities, Singapore has organized National Junior Robotics Competitions (NJRC), Singapore Robotics Games (SRG) and First Robotics Singapore (FRS).National Junior Robotics Competitions (NJRC)The NJRC is an exciting and unique event organized annually by SCS and the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR), and is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Singapore Totalisator Board. Over the past 9 years, more than 30,000 participants and 200,000 supporters have gathered for this premier robotics competition. It has gone a long way since its first year in 1999 from only 167 teams and 70 schools to over 800 teams and 70% of the schools in Singapore.Singapore Robotic Games (SRG)The SRG is an annual event aiming to inculcate in the general public an understanding and appreciation of robotics and automation. It has been organized for the past 15 years, since 1993. It has since grown from 250 participants in 5 games to over a thousand participants in 15 games today.First Robotics Singapore (FRS)The FRS is an annual robotics competition organized by SCS for secondary and higher secondary students. It has been organized for the past 5 years, since 2003. This event attracts more than 300 participants every year.World Robot Olympiad (WRO)SCS also hosted the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in 2004. WRO is an annual international robotics competition with over 15 participating countries which uses the LEGO Mindstorms kit.Robotics Related International Conferences and Congresses in SingaporeBesides Robotics competitions, Singapore has been actively organizing numerous robotics related international conferences, such as:
